Our Featured Charity of the Week: The Human Society of the United States
We’re pleased to feature The Humane Society of the United States as our CheckPoints Featured Charity this week!
The Humane Society is a nationwide organization in the United States that not only rescues stray, abused and neglected animals, but also advocates for the safety, health and well being of domesticated animals across the nation. They work to help pass laws that protect the rights of animals, offer education to pet owners across the country, as well as implement free veterinary care, including spay and neuter programs in local shelters to help to prevent animal overpopulation.
Some of the more recent accomplishments of the HSUS have been its Dogfighting Rescue Coalition, which helps to rescue animals used for the purposes of fighting and give them another chance at a happy, healthy life in a new home. Also, there’s the Safe Stalls Program, where citizens can offer their support to law enforcement officials through HSUS to rescue abused and neglected horses.
